BT send out free I-Plate

BT now offers it premium subscribers on the BT Total Broadband plan an I-Plate broadband booster known as the Broadband Accelerator formally for free.

In order to receive the I-Plate for free consumers must be currently receiving lower broadband speeds than they signed up for and have access to a fixed line. There is one small catch, users must pay ?1.20 for postage fees but it will increase broadband speeds about 1.5Mbps which makes it worthwhile.

Those who use a different mobile provider can also purchase the I-plate if they like for a charge of about ?7.

The BT I-Plate is meant as a replacement for a typical ADSL filter which is why only homes that connect their modems through the main telephone line fixture will benefit from its use.

BT alleges that the I-Plate is able to block interference from other electrical and lighting appliances in a home resulting in clearer voice qualities and sound. BT also stated that over nine million homes may benefit from its use.

The I-Plate may be a solution to those who desire faster broadband speeds so to get Bette use out of streaming video services and devices such as the BBC I-Player. The device may also benefit those in rural areas who experience low connection speeds due to the distance between their home and local exchanges.
